Chris Sullivan Kelley (Nicholas's mom)

Michelle and 5th graders,

I was really struck by Michelle's discussion about the importance of persistence and wanted to share a little story of my own. When I was in graduate school studying American History I slowly came to realize that achieving a PhD was at least 60-80% persistence. There were plenty of smart people in my program, and no one had very much money for school, and many were talented thinkers and writers, but it was the ones who had someone to support and encourage them, and the ones who possessed inner strength and persistence that made it to the end of a long program. Congratulations to you all for beginning to learn this lesson so early in life. It is truly the key to success!
