Fourth and fifth graders are often fascinated by how things work. They'll take apart anything you give them and wonder at its innards. Language is no different. Recently, we've been reading with an eye to how the author creates the story and the images in our mind. In the past few days the Elms have been reading poetry - discecting its rhyme, rhythm, and images to find out just what makes it a poem.
